Sunrises and Sunsets

I was watching the sunrise this morning and I was thinking to my about how beautiful the sunrises and sunsets are each day.  I was also thinking how quickly they appear and then are gone.  In a matter of 5 to 10 minutes they begin and then they are gone.

So I started thinking to myself what lessons can I learn from a sunrise and sunset?

Here are some of the things I came up with.

  • Some people have such anxiety and worry about missing things in life.  They think if they miss an opportunity or an experience then they will never get another chance, opportunity, or experience.  If you fall into this trap release the anxiety and quit worrying about those things. Don't worry about the things you missed you can't change the past, just plan to maximize those opportunities, chances, and experiences going forward.
  • Some things in life are truly cycles.  If you miss the sunrise and the sunset today, you can try harder to see them tomorrow. Nature is truly something that run in cycles.
  • The sunrise and sunset happen so fast that you truly have to live in the moment and enjoy that moment before it slips away from you.  I know living in the moment is something that a lot of people struggle with (me included).  We strive so hard to plan things out and work our plans that sometimes we just forget to pause and live in the moment, and enjoy life for what it is.
Those are just a few of the thoughts I had when I was looking at the sunrise this morning.  What are your thoughts about sunrises and sunset?  What do they mean to you?  What have they taught you?  Share your thoughts with me.

P.S. - The picture that is being used for this post was the sunrise I witnessed this morning.   :)
