You Can't Blame Your Circumstances, You Are Your Possibilities

We read this quote from Oprah Winfrey this week and it was so powerful we wanted it to be our focus of the post for this week.

The quote was as follows:

"What I learned at a very young age was that I was responsible for my life... You cannot blame apartheid, your parents, your circumstances, because you are not your circumstances. You are your possibilities. If you know that, you can do anything." - Oprah Winfrey

If you know anything about Oprah's life you know how amazing this quote is for her to say and to live.

She didn't have an easy life.

As a matter of fact, I'm sure most of us can't even comprehend how awful her life really was.

To say it was hard or that she had a lot of trials doesn't even come close to the truth.

The thing that really amazes us about this quote is that everything in her life that she could have used to complain about to focus on for holding her down she removes.

She takes the common obstacles out of the way and cuts through all of the mind games and gets right to the point.

As she states in her quote:

"You cannot blame apartheid, your parents, your circumstances because you are not your circumstances. You are your possibilities."

So instead of blaming her circumstances (A fact or condition connected with or relevant to an event or action.) for her life or her life choices, she instead chooses to look at her possibilities.

One of the definitions of a possibility is "a thing that may be chosen or done out of several possible alternatives."

The beauty of Oprah is that no matter how dark or how bad things got she always told herself that she had possibilities, she could choose several possible alternatives to what was happening to her or whatever situation she found herself in at the time.

As she stated at the end of her quote:

"If you know that, you can do anything."

How freeing is that to know?

With one subtle mindset shift change or way of looking at something, you can find your way out of the darkness of any situation.

What an amazing power that is and what an amazing power Oprah has shared with all of us.

If you have any questions to the power of this quote we'd only have to go so far as to ask you to look at Oprah, her life, her success, and what she has been able to accomplish.

The value of this quote and the lesson Oprah is sharing with us here is priceless.

We hope you will heed her guidance and use it to make your life better.
