Is Having Power Really That Important?

Is Power everything in life?

Is it the one thing that makes the world go round?

If you could only have one thing, is Power that one thing you should go after in life?

In Gene's book he makes the statement below:

"Power is everything. Everyone wants it, whether they admit it or not, and people respond strongly to
those who have it, while they have it."

Do you believe this statement is true?

Let's break it down and look at it together.

"Power is Everything."

This is the question we are trying to answer currently.

"Everyone wants it,"

Does everyone want power?

We think there are some people in life who don't really care if they have power or not.

Some people are more than willing to let all of their decisions in life be made and they are more than happy to be a victim.

Is that the way you should live?

Who are we to tell you Yes or No to that question, but what we can tell you is that whether you choose to seek power and run your own life, or if you choose to not seek power and allow others to run your life the most important point we are trying to make here is that it is always "Your Choice".

You and only you are responsible for the choices you make in life.

You can't blame someone else for the choices you've made.

Own your choices.

"Whether they admit it or not,"

Is it required that you admit you want power or that you don't?

We think that whether people admit it to "themselves" or not is what is important here.

Who cares if you admit it to others or not, others don't have anything to do with if you choose to start
obtaining power or if you decide to let others with power rule over you.

You need to make the choice.

We think if you are truly honest with yourself you will see that everyone wants some power is some form
or fashion.

You were not put on this earth to live under someone else's rule your whole life.

You were put here to do great and marvelous things.

You were put here to make the world a better place in some way.

So don't stifle who or what you are, go out, take action and make your mark on the world.

That is your true purpose in life.

"people respond strongly to those who have it,"

We think Gene's point is valid here. People do respond strongly to people who have power.

Notice that Gene did not say they respond "positively" or "negatively".

We think he did this intentionally because the statement is true "people respond strongly to those who have it". Is very true.

People, in general, will either love or hate another person who holds power, especially if that person holds the power over them personally.

How people respond to someone of power is purely on the individuals perspective.

"while they have it."

This is a very interesting way for Gene to end his statement.

What usually happens to people of power when they lose their power or their power is taken away?

Usually they people try to fade away into the crowd.

They try to stay below the radar and not draw any
attention to themselves.

The reason they do that is that once you lose power it's not as easy to gain it again, and also once
you lose power other power players will be looking to take you out of the game for good.

One less power player in the mix, the easier it is for the other power players to operate.

Power is not a game for the weak or the faint of heart.

If you play in this game realize up front this game is the winner takes all.

There are very few places for second place in the power game.
