How Does It Feel To Be A Thought Leader?

Thought Leader

The question this week is...

"How Does It Feel To Be A Thought Leader?"

That's a pretty interesting question if you ask me.
Why?

Because here is the official definition of a "Thought Leader":

thought lead·er
noun
noun: thought leader; plural noun: thought leaders
  1. one whose views on a subject are taken to be authoritative and influential.

"Thought leaders are informed opinion leaders and the go-to people in their field of expertise. They are trusted sources who move and inspire people with innovative ideas; turn ideas into reality, and know and show how to replicate their success."

As you can see from the definition above, I'm not a "Thought Leader".

So when I was asked this question I just kind of laughed because I don't see myself as a thought leader or even close to a thought leader.

I will own and claim that I am a "Thought Sharer" but that is about as far as I can go in that space.

I know, I know, some of you are probably thinking to yourself right now what's the difference? Thought Leader, or Thought Sharer, who really cares.

To me, they are two totally different things.

According to the definition above these people listed below are "Thought Leaders" in their respective fields.

And the list can go on and on...

But I think you get my point.

As you can see by the names on that list, I am nowhere close to being on that list.

That's why I think at best I could be classified as a "Thought Sharer".

In case you're wondering what I consider a "Thought Sharer" to be this is how I would define it.

"Someone who is willing to continually keep learning new things and in turns share the information they have learned freely with anyone else who wants to know."

That to me is what it means to be a "Thought Sharer".

I'm sure there is more that could go into that definition but I think you get what I'm trying to say.

Another big difference I see between the two is...

Thought Leaders - Are trying to change the world.

Thought Sharer's - Are just trying to make the world a better place by sharing what they have to help others.

I know this might be a hard concept for some people to get or they might even be thinking to themselves right now "Who Cares?"

To those people, I say STOP READING right here because don't waste any more of your time reading this because you've already missed the point.

But if you're still here then I think you can see where I am going with this.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, or people should pick one or the other if this is your long term goal in life.

My only point here is to point out the difference between the two of them and to let you know which one I see myself as.

The choice is always yours my friends as to which way you want to go in life or what you choose to believe or not.

My only hope is that I've shed a little light on how I see these two as being different.

So leave me a comment below and let me know which one you think I am and also which one you want to be.
