Gary Vee's $1.90 Strategy Or Bust

 

So anyone who knows Gary Vee on social media or anywhere where you might have run into Gary knows about the $1.90 strategy he has for social media.

If on the off chance you don't know what I'm talking about I'll explain it briefly below to catch you up.


Gary Vee's $1.90 strategy is basically going into any social media platform and leaving your 2 cents (as a comment) on a post and doing that over and over again until you hit $1.90.


So for those that are challenged with math... (No worries we all have our times where math simple or not just doesn't make sense to us.) that is basically leaving a comment on 95 posts from other people a day on that given platform.


Depending on the social platform that could take you a little bit of time to do each day. But, Gary claims that if you do that over a given period of time you will grow your followers and you will become a recognizable person on that given platform.


So, now that you know what the $1.90 strategy is what do you think?


Is that something you think you could do daily?


With everything else you have going on in your life, you could devote that time to just one social media platform?


Or what about multiple social media platforms?


As you know this year my word for the year is "ENGAGEMENT".

So, I decided to give Gary's $1.90 strategy a try to see if it works but I am going to make a few tweaks to the strategy to better fit my own personal needs.


For starters instead of leaving a 2 cent comment, I'm going to strive to leave a 5 cent comment instead.


To me, a 2 cent comment is like "Great Job!!", "Cool Pic.", "Congrats", etc...


I'm going to strive to leave a 5 cent comment and what I mean by that is something that is longer than a 2 cent comment and more personal to make it a 5 cent comment. An example would be "I really like how you used the color red in your picture and the way it blends with the other colors is amazing."


Also if I can strive to leave 5 cent comments then I only have to leave comments on 38 posts.


Lastly, I'm going to try and do it on multiple social media platforms at the same time so I'll need the extra time to attack more than one at a time.


I've selected Twitter and Instagram as my two platforms to try my experiment on and I'm going to run the experiment for two weeks and see what happens.


Currently, I'm am sitting at the following as far as followers go on each platform.


Twitter - 105 followers


Instagram - 1,189 followers


(As a side note, my Twitter account is fairly new as my last Twitter account of 10,000+ followers was shut down for reasons that still haven't been disclosed to me from Twitter. But I'm not salty or anything about that... but let's move on.)


So, in two weeks re-look at this and see how Gary Vee's strategy has worked for me.
