Hey You, Yeah You, How Much Time Do You Spend Each Day Being Grateful?

With Thanksgiving being tomorrow I thought it would be a good time to sit back and do a little reflection.

During this time of Thanksgiving, I always like to reflect and think about the things that I am grateful for and to give some gratitude for those things.

So, since I'm going to do that any way I thought I'd do this post this week to share some of my thoughts with you.

So, let's first start with what "Gratitude" is just in case you don't know what it means.

Gratitude according to the dictionary means:

Grat·i·tude

noun

the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

So now that we know what the official definition of gratitude is I want to have a little fun with the word and share some of my thoughts with you.

Here we go...

G - I am "Grateful" for this year that we've had. I know most people aren't but I think this year has truly taught me some pretty amazing things. Has it been easy... No. Have I learn some good things... Yes.

R - I am grateful for being able to put the "Rat Race" in proper perspective this year. It took something like this to help me see how over busy with some not important things I really was, and because of this year I've been able to notice that and make some adjustments.

A - I am grateful to know that even though this isn't a very popular opinion right now that we "All Are In This Together." Even if we don't want to be or even if we don't agree with other people's views or beliefs we are still all in this together in the end.

T - I am grateful for the "Time" I have had to learn new things and to work on being more creative. Time is our most valuable commodity in life and I have been very aware of my time and how I'm spending it this year.

I - I am grateful that during this "Isolation" I've still had a roof over my head, Heat, and AC when I needed it to make my life more comfortable, food on my table to eat, and a safe place to lay my head to rest at night.

T - I am grateful to have been able to "Talk" to some great people during this year. People I probably wouldn't have normally met had this year not been the way it was.

U - I am grateful that even though we are in the middle of pandemic, lockdowns, people losing jobs, small businesses getting closed, Antifa, BLM, violent demonstrations, police departments being defunded, mask enforcement, etc... I know in the end this year will "Unify" people and we as a country are going to come out of this stronger than we were when we went into this year.

D - I am grateful that I got a "Dog" this year. We got Lizzie around Easter time as she has become an invaluable part of my life and my day. She is my little lady and she gives such unconditional love its truly amazing to share your life with an animal that shows you each day what's truly important about life and relationships.

E - I am grateful to be able to "Endure" this year and to be able to get up each day and push forward no matter what the day may bring. There are so many people who either because of illness or disabilities can't even get out of bed each day. So I'm grateful to be able to continue to press forward no matter what the world or others throw at me. That is truly a blessing.

So, there you have it. Some things I'm grateful for this year and what a very special time of the year this is.

I hope that this week when you sit down to eat your Thanksgiving Meal you will take some time to reflect on your year this year and try to find some things that you are grateful for.

It's not really that hard and if you start to make a habit of finding things you're grateful for you'll notice as time goes along it will be a lot easier for you to find those things in your life and to be able to share them with others when maybe they are having a hard time finding things in their life to be grateful for.

In closing, I'd like to wish everyone who reads this post this week a "Very Happy Thanksgiving."

I hope that the time you're able to spend with your family or loved ones this year will mean so much more to you than it has in the past.

I also hope you will truly be grateful for the gifts you've been given this year and for the people you've been able to spend time with this year.
