Never Mess With “Entitlement” And Here’s The Reasons Why

Why do so many people feel so entitled today?

This is a question that’s been rolling around in my head for quite a while now.
There are few things worse than people who feel they are “entitled” to things in this life.

The only thing I can think of that even comes close to be lower than people feeling “entitled” is people who are “apathetic” and I’ll save my thoughts on them for another day.

Before I go any further I want to define exactly what “Entitled” means:

en·ti·tled

inˈtīdld,enˈtīdld/

adjective

believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.

There seems to be this plague going on in the world today where people just seem to have this sense of entitlement.

And it also seems to be concentrating within the younger generation.

*(I realize these are general statements and I’m sure not every young person is this way, but for this post, I’m talking more about the “Entitlement” feeling and attitude then I am about an age of people.)

Where did we go so wrong as a society that this is even something we have to worry about?

Whatever happened to being “Grateful” for the things you have?

What happened to work hard for the things you want and need in life?

Have we gone so far in the other direction of trying to make our children’s lives better than our own or when we grew up, that now they aren’t required to work for anything anymore?

What have we done to change from a mindset of Gratitude to a mindset of Entitlement?

People today seem to think:

  • I’m entitled to go to school here.
  • I’m entitled to have you buy these things for me.
  • I’m entitled to you taking care of me.
  • I’m entitled to this job.
  • I’m entitled to you paying me a big salary for this menial job.
  • I’m entitled to all benefits no matter what I contribute.
  • I’m entitled to a trophy because I showed up today.
  • I’m entitled to your praise and admiration because I am in your presence.
  • I’m entitled to live here because this is where all the cool people live.
  • I’m entitled to these rights because I was born here.
  • I’m entitled to this land because this is where I choose to call home.
  • I’m entitled to this food because there is more than enough to go around.
  • I’m entitled to some of your money because you are “Rich” and I’m not.

And the list could go on and on forever as to what people think they are entitled to today.

But let me let you in on a secret that is going to rock your world as you know it today:

You are not entitled to anything in life.

Nothing. Zip. Zero. Nada. Nothing!!

It’s time to open your eyes and your mind.

Get out of your unicorn, snowflake, gaga, wussy infected lifestyle and realize no one owes you anything. Period.

  • If you want something in life you need to go get it.
  • If you want to be better then you were yesterday then it’s up to you to make yourself better today.
  • If you want more money, go earn it.
  • If you want to live in a better place, go earn it.
  • If you want a better salary, go earn it.
  • If you want the better house, go earn it.

That’s what this life is all about…

Nobody owes you a damn thing, and the sooner you quit thinking that they do the sooner you’ll be able to start taking control of your life back.

Quit being “Entitled” and start being “Grateful” and you will see an amazing change in your life.
